Five principals collectively comprise our sphere of unprecedented expertise, experience and commitment to our clients' goals. Engineering. Technology. Accounting. Communications. Every aspect of our business is guided by our Principals to ensure superior project outcomes. We invite you to take a minute to learn more about our leadership.

Peter Monroe

Sixteen years ago Bill and I took on the challenge to build a great structural engineering enterprise. Unparalleled in the industry. Unprecedented in the way in which we perform our work. We knew it would take meticulous attention to building relationships and assembling the talented individuals who shared the same vision. Today I can say it is one of the most gratifying accomplishments of my life. I'm proud to be a part of creating great communities with clients I respect and people I enjoy working with.

Being an engineer allows me to absorb myself in solving problems. It's a science. Researching technologies. Techniques. Materials. Then combining those with the intellectual properties of our people – well, the outcome always complements the architect's vision. There is a lot of satisfaction that comes with orchestrating the various aspects of structural engineering to arrive at a dynamic solution. And it's pretty satisfying to know that our clients really appreciate all of the research we do in order to bring their vision to reality. It has been amazing to see how Peter and I have melded our abilities into one creative engineering firm I wouldn't trade this experience for anything.

Complex mountain-based structures – you can't give me enough of them! Since the very beginning, we've focused our talent on becoming the best structural engineers for resorts and urban development and I strongly believe we're there. We are problem solvers and we take unprecedented effort to accommodate the architectural design of those who are creating environments for living. I personally enjoy the meticulous investigation of framing options for projects because it helps me to solve complex issues with confidence.

You can say engineering runs in my family. My father, brother and cousin are all structural consultants. We have a special aptitude for the craft – the science of solving problems. I particularly enjoy resort design and mountain construction. Working with heavy timber and log structure are challenging, as well as designing buildings requiring multi-story steel and concrete frames. As an expert in mountain construction, I favor wood as a structural material because it is natural and warm and requires a specific knowledge of how the material ages and reacts to forces of nature and changes in temperatures and moisture content.

My career with Monroe & Newell has been gratifying and exciting. I especially enjoy engineering tilt-up concrete buildings that we have come to be noted for throughout Colorado. Working with clients and getting to know them on a personal level influences my design solutions and helps me to do a better job for them – giving them more than the "structural answer." Understanding everything that I can about the project at the very beginning makes sure that we know what will affect the structural systems. Asking the right questions up front gets us to the right structural design the first time – and that is something clients really value.
